This 1960 Chevrolet El Camino, originally built in Los Angeles, has been a West Coast resident ever since. It underwent a full refurbishment and modification between 2011 and 2013, featuring a repaint in Butternut Yellow with white accents and an interior makeover with black and white upholstery. A 327ci V8 engine, paired with a four-speed Super T-10 manual transmission, was installed during the rebuild. The truck also boasts a Positraction rear end, Proform 600-cfm carburetor, Milodon oil pan, MagnaFlow mufflers, double-staggered American Salt Flat wheels, lowered suspension, front disc brakes, power steering, and air conditioning. Since its purchase by the current owner in 2014, approximately 1,700 miles have been added to the vehicle. Listed on Bring a Trailer (BaT) in June 2024, this modified El Camino is now being offered without reserve, complete with handwritten ownership notes and a Washington state title in the owner’s name.
According to the seller, the truck was completely disassembled between 2011 and 2013, down to bare metal, with corrosion repair done on a lower-rear fender using cut-in metal. The body was repainted in Butternut Yellow with white accents, while weather seals, trim, and lenses were either refurbished or replaced.
The inner headlights were replaced with engine intake ducting, and the bed and tailgate were customized with metal liners finished in gloss silver.
Upgrades to the suspension include two-inch drop spindles, tubular control arms, a CPP 500 Series power steering box, sway bar, and disc brakes up front. The Positraction 4.11 rear axle comes with adjustable overrider suspension bars and an adjustable Panhard rod. The truck rides on American Salt Flat wheels, sized 18×9.5″ in the front and 20×12″ at the rear, fitted with Nitto tires.
The interior was enhanced with a black and white retrimmed bench seat and a Vintage Air climate control system, along with low-pile black carpeting. The current owner also replaced the seat belts.
A two-spoke steering wheel is mounted on a tilt column, and the dashboard is fitted with AutoMeter gauges and a Painless wiring harness. The odometer reads 3,800 miles, reflecting the distance traveled since the rebuild, with the current owner responsible for around 1,700 of those miles.
During the rebuild, a 1968 327ci V8 was installed, featuring oversized Speed Pro forged flat-top pistons with 10:1 compression, Hastings rings, 3/8″ H-beam connecting rods, ACL race bearings, Harland Sharp roller rockers, an Elgin camshaft and lifters, Z28-spec 302 heads, an Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake manifold, tubular headers, a Melling oil pump, and a HEI distributor. After the current owner acquired the truck, a Milodon oil pump, Proform 600-CFM carburetor, and MagnaFlow mufflers were added. The oil was last changed in June 2023.
Other mechanical highlights include an aluminum flywheel, McLeod Super Street and Strip clutch kit, SFI-approved steel bell housing, and a BorgWarner four-speed Super T-10 manual transmission paired with a solid-case rear end, Positraction, and 4.11 gears. Additionally, a Fuel Safe fuel tank and dual-circuit master cylinder were installed.
